A BRIDE FOR RIP VAN WINKLE

 

A bride for Rip Van Winkle is a masterpiece about loneliness and the development of emotions that breaks you apart and that shines, mostly, because of the wonderful work of Haru Kuroki, whose work adds her character and the story more accuracy (making me want to hug that Nanami that a lot of us see ourselves in).

A bride for Rip Van Winkle es una obra de arte en mayúsculas sobre la soledad y el desarrollo de las emociones que te rompe y que brilla sobre todo por la maravillosa interpretación de Haru Kuroki, y es que qué realismo le añade a su personaje y a la historia (y qué ganas me da así de abrazar a esa Nanami con la que muchos y muchas podemos reflejarnos).

Throughout the movie, Nanami is shown to us as a shy person, with a soft and sweet voice that goes well with her personality, a personality of a person that has suffered and that is afraid of being, in a certain way, vulnerable again. We see her being insecure at her job, we also see her being disappointed, broken, lost and above all, even saved by those who she didn't expect. The film is a host of emotions that leads you to impersonate her character, making you think as her and feel all that she feels.

A lo largo del largometraje, Nanami se nos muestra como una persona tímida, con una voz suave y dulce muy acorde a su personalidad, justamente esa de quien ha sufrido y teme volver a ser vulnerable. La vemos insegura en su trabajo, la vemos decepcionada, rota, perdida y, sobre todo, hasta salvada por quien menos se lo esperaba. La película es un cúmulo de emociones que te lleva a encarnar tú mismo o tú misma a la protagonista, a pensar como ella piensa y a sentir todo lo que ella siente.

It is also a series of encounters and an accumulation of experiences: feeling empty when you must feel complete, being in an abyss but also achieving happiness as the time you grow, in every sense of the word.

And, when a film is done so well, great gems like this can come out.

Es también una serie de encuentros y un cúmulo de experiencias: sentirse vacío/a cuando debes estar lleno/a, estar en un abismo pero también alcanzar la felicidad al tiempo que creces, en cada sentido de la palabra.

Y es que cuando una película se hace tan bien, pueden salir grandes joyas como ésta.
